~How to Format One's Zanpakuto and Abilities~

Anyway...it is important to first know the ranks of Shinigami and at what rank it is appropriate for one to create certain techniques.

The RP ranks are as follows:

Shinigami
Unseated Officer
Seated Officer(3-10)
Lieutenant
Captain
Zero Division captain
Captain Commander

Now to explain further.All shinigami and vaizards,may hold up to any 2 zanpakuto's(however only 1 cannon,out of those 2 may be used.2 cannons are not allowed.)

Now, for formatting zanpakuto and abilities, follow this guide (note that this is not required, however, it can be a very useful tool when attempting to organize one's zanpakuto properly):

Of course, by the time you achieve Bankai, you should be knowledgeable enough to format that properly as well. Simply repeat the steps from the Shikai formatting as appropriate. However, Bankai is something anyone new to RP need worry about at the moment.

Formatting Techniques for your Zanpakuto

Note: A Zanpakuto technique is not the same as an ability. It is a specific move that stems from a Zanpakuto's main ability. For example, if a Zanpakuto's ability is control over water, then a possible technique could be making a giant water dragon.

They should be made like so,and do not forget that 4 techniques for shikai max,and 4 for bankai.

Zanpakuto Name: Yonoikuchi (nightfall)

appearance: The zanpakuto is divided into 2 identical black swords,1 on each hip of Mugen. How it looks is shown in the picture in the spoiler below.

Zanpakuto Name: RaitonRyu (Lightning Dragon)

Appearance: Like any normal katana, but with a dragon’s head on top of handle, and 4 claws as its hilt.

Released by saying, Pure Lightning, RaitonRyu. My zanpaktou becomes 2 dual bladed swords like these:

Shikai Ability: In shikai, I am able to focus my reitsu into the gaps of the swords, creating static, allowing me to power up my lightning based shikai attacks and techniques (includes any lightning based kido that I use my zanpakuto to enhance).

Bankai Description
Released by saying, True Lightning, RaitonRyu. I completely transform into the blue eyes white dragon master warrior, into an armor something like this:

but instead of an orange head there it's a blue-eyes white dragon's. My shikai attacks and all other lightning techniques are powered up in this form, along with a second form (included in abilities)

Bankai Ability:

My shikai attacks and all other lightning techniques are powered up in this form, along with a second form that I can go into simply by releasing the armor, or if it is destroyed. By doing so, I am saving my reitsu, enabling several effects. I appear naked, with an electric current moving about my body. My Zanpaktou turns into pure lightning as well, further boosting any attacks used as far as cutting ability, immobilization, and any kido/shikai/bankai techniques as well. Also, by further gaining an addition of a pure lightning zanpaktou, I gain the speed of Yoruichi's Shunko. Along with a grand boost of my mastery over lightning, I gain the ability to control the pure lightning zanpakuto like Byakuya's bankai with either my hand or my zanpaktou itself.

Zanpakuto History:
When Sosuke Aizen destroyed the Kōtotsu (拘突, Wresting-Surge) , its essence ended up in the cycle of rebirth. Because it was usually fused with the Kōryū (拘流, Wresting Flow), it needed something else to fuse with since it no longer resided in the Dangai Precipice World. So while in the cycle of rebirth, it chose a strong soul to cling on to. It chose Raiden (my bio) and fused with his soul, laying dormant and becoming his shinigami soul. Because the Kōtotsu once resided in the Dangai Precipice World, it gave Raiden powers that were similar to the Kōtotsu’s past powers.
It also gave him new eyes that could see Reiatsu, Raiden hid these eyes as they looked hellish (they were green eyes that looked like they were on fire ) so Raiden wrapped his eyes in a cloth and will not open his eyes unless necessary.

In its Sealed Form it looks like a regular katana, which Raiden places on left hip (as he fights with his Right hand).

Once released, Raiden gains access to some abilities. His most basic is the ability to open portals to the Dangai Precipice World. He can either cut the air, where he wants the portal to spawn or he can use his hands to slash or rip open a portal. In the beginning Raiden can only open one portal at a time, they are only the size of himself and can be used as a means of escape, or as a shield which sends an attack into another dimension (i.e Dangai Precipice World). As he grows strong he can open bigger and/or more portals at a time (but after necessary training). Because the Kōtotsu’s soul resides in Raiden he has the latent ability to move through the Dangai Precipice World freely without the Kōryū trying to stop him, meaning he can release his Zanpaktou and use his abilities and he won’t get stuck in the current. This also means he can take advantage of the time distortion, meaning he can train for months in the Dangai Precipice World, while only days pass in soul society.
After the necessary training more abilities will become available to Raiden.
The command for this Zanpaktou is "Entombed in Darkness we shall rise, Dākushuraudo"

As for your question, I don't think you have to, but I don't see why you can't make custom techs for a canon zanpakuto along with using the other techs that come with canon zanpakutos. lol

Here's my Bankai Form and Techniques:
Bankai Form
Name: Fushi no shuraudo ("Shroud of the Deathless")

Raiden once again holds the spear like he did with his sealed form (except the point is pointing up) and then says "Bankai", Like before Darkness appears and covers Raiden and his zanpaktou. Once transformed the darkness around him dissipates and he takes his new form (while he changes he can't be harmed as the darkness is a portal and will transport anything into another dimension). Once changed darkness will flow out from the user and into the air creating a huge dome around the opponent and user, where they will be separated from time and space and no one can enter or leave the area (apart from the user). Also while in this area the user can just point and open portals (not on the opponent), instead of physically having to open them.

Once Raiden unleashes Bankai, he takes on physical changes befitting his zanpaktou’s name “Shroud of the Deathless” such as gaining a big black hooded robe that covers his face and body, he is endowed with special battle armor and his spear turns into a longsword.

His Zanpaktou will glow red as it gets warmed up or is going to attack.

The blade is decorated by small yellow diamonds connected by a line. The tip of the Lunatic is axe-like and in the middle is a small cross of yellow spikes.

Making it only ideal for short-mid attacks.

appearance: It is a two-handed weapon that Saix has the ability to use with only one hand, in it's sealed form the weapon is a sword with a cross hilt, of which the guards are turned down.

Being a moon based weapon, the weapon can transform into many different types of claymore style weapons all of which have varying attributes. Zanpakuto Name: Suzumebachi (雀蜂, ; Hornet)

Appearance: In its sealed form, it resembles a wakizashi with a yellow hilt reminiscent of a Chinese dao. It is kept sheathed horizontally behind Suì-Fēng's lower back hanging by a rope.

Shikai description: triggered by the command "Sting all Enemies to Death" (尽敵螫殺, Jinteki Shakusetsu). Grasping onto Suzumebachi with her right hand, the entire sword will glow white and shrink in size. When the emitted glow dies out, it is revealed that Suzumebachi has now taken on the form of a black and gold gauntlet that has a small chain linking it to a stinger-like blade on Suì-Fēng's middle finger. The "stinger" is about twice as long as the normal length of Suì-Fēng's fingers, slightly increasing her striking distance. The colors and pattern of the Shikai resemble those of a hornet, fitting for the Zanpakutō's name. In this form, Suzumebachi is still capable of withstanding an opponent's sword attacks, as Suì-Fēng can block incoming attacks with the "stinger" and gauntlet portions.

Nigeki Kessatsu (弐撃決殺, Death in Two Steps) As its first step, Suì-Fēng stabs her enemy with Suzumebachi’s blade. Not only leaving a rather deep wound, the attack leaves a butterfly-shaped stamp on the victim’s body. Spreading from the center of the wound, known as Hōmonka (蜂紋華, hornet's crest; Viz "Bee Crest Flower"), this stamp becomes the target of Suì-Fēng’s second attack. If struck in this same spot that was hit the first time, the person will inevitably die and thus illustrate "Death in Two Steps.” When the ability takes effect, a larger crest quickly spreads out from the two smaller ones, completely destroying the victim's body. The crests are maintained by Suì-Fēng's will and are impossible to remove unless she wills it. The mechanics behind Suzumebachi's ability takes effect not through point of entry but rather point of actual surface contact. This ability is caused by a venom that Suzumebachi secretes. When it enters the target's body, it spreads throughout their body in a matter of minutes, if not seconds, destroying it without a trace. The effect of the poison takes slightly longer to work for those who have enhanced spiritual power.

Bankai Description: Jakuhō Raikōben (雀蜂雷公鞭, Hornet Thunder Whip): Its appearance is that of a gold armor missile launcher base that encases Suì-Fēng's right arm and comes all the way above her shoulder to form a face shield that she uses to cover the right side of her face. The entire bankai is made up of a large pointed gold cylinder with black markings twice the size of Suì-Fēng herself. Before she activated her Bankai, Suì-Fēng wrapped a heavy metal sash (Ginjōhan) around the building she stood on, in preparation for the attack's massive recoil and the resulting powerful explosion. She uses her Bankai so rarely that it has remained largely unseen by the members of Soul Society; even her own Lieutenant comments on having never seen it before. Suì-Fēng explains that she would prefer not to use her Bankai. She believes that it offends her pride as a Covert Ops agent, as "It's too large to hide, too heavy to move, and its attack is too flashy for assassination."

If struck in this same spot that was hit the first time, the person will inevitably die and thus illustrate "Death in Two Steps.” When the ability takes effect, a larger crest quickly spreads out from the two smaller ones, completely destroying the victim's body. The crests are maintained by Suì-Fēng's will and are impossible to remove unless she wills it. He keeps them sheathed through his waist tie at his left side; although, during battle, the swords have been shown to be placed on both sides of his sash.

The blades act as extensions of Keotsu – he has complete control of the blades. Keotsu controls the blades by directing them with hand movements, like a conductor, and eventually he will gain the ability to control them with only his thoughts. The swords can be melded together for different effects and forms, dependent only on the imagination. When blades are melded together, the created object is equivalent to the number of blades used to make it in all aspects, though the Reiatsu can be compressed to make the object smaller, much like a Zanpakuto.

Description: A powerful move unlocked in Shikai form, Keotsu expels his Reiatsu and forms a black sphere with a fifteen foot diameter in the air. This is not an attack, but a sort of binding - it appears as if anything within the sphere is frozen in time. Though time has not actually stopped, the sphere concentrates Keotsu's Spiritual Pressure into a singular space, pinning whatever is trapped inside. It's been compared to trying to move through solid concrete while inside - a Captain proficient in the highest level Shunpo would be able to leave the sphere, though it would be incredibly taxing. The sphere only lasts for five seconds, and Keotsu alone is immune to its affects, as it is formed of his own Spiritual Pressure.

Description: An interesting technique, this technique allows Keotsu to leave a "streak" through the area in which me moves, like the tail of a comet does in the sky. The only catch to this is, that the "streak" has "mass"; that's to say, it's occupied space, and cannot be moved into. This is most effective in trap setting, as if Keotsu swings his blade, and if the opponent where to cross the space where the blade was swung while the tail is present, it would be the same as taking the hit from the blade. The tail starts from Keotsu's middle, meaning that he is not in danger of leaving a tail in front of him as he fights, though it can be used for multiple angle attacking if used right. However, if Keotsu was to double back and cross the tail, he would be in danger of the tail attacking him as well, as the "space" does not discriminate against it's creator, much how a sword can still cut it's owner.

Bankai Description: Released by saying "Can you see the light? Hannagareboshishawā! (Grand Meteor Shower)", my Bankai abilities activate. All of my Shikai attacks increase in strength, some having minor changes in the way they work. When I release my Bankai, I become dressed in a black cloak, and my sword and shield turn into crests that are inscribed on my gloves, allowing me to summon them at will. The shield takes on the properties of a black Radiant Blade, and the Sword the properties of a White Radiant blade, but only at it's tip. The insignias are silver in color, and gleam on top of my gloves.

Bankai Ability: All of my Shikai abilities increase in power and effectiveness, as well as my cloak acting as a sort of light armor, being composed of all spiritual pressure. It also makes Keotsu seem to flicker in the eyes of others, making it seem like he's warping when he moves from place to place, as he fades in and out of view - this ability is best reaped upon when paired with Shunpo, as Keotsu is actually solid the entire time.

Other than this, Keotsu's Bankai simply increases his base speed, attack, magical ability, and defense.

Description:Arguably Nagareboshi’s most versatile and most powerful move, this attack causes perfect replicas of Nagareboshi’s long-sword form to form in the air, which are made of Reiatsu, and are blue in color - they do not fade away after they are called upon. The blades act as extensions of Keotsu – he has complete control of the blades. Keotsu controls the blades by directing them with hand movements, like a conductor, and eventually he will gain the ability to control them with only his thoughts. The swords can be melded together for different effects and forms, dependent only on the imagination. When blades are melded together, the created object is equivalent to the number of blades used to make it in all aspects, though the Reiatsu can be compressed to make the object smaller, much like a Zanpakuto.

Description: A powerful move unlocked in Shikai form, Keotsu expels his Reiatsu and forms a black sphere with a fifteen foot diameter in the air. This is not an attack, but a sort of binding - it appears as if anything within the sphere is frozen in time. Though time has not actually stopped, the sphere concentrates Keotsu's Spiritual Pressure into a singular space, pinning whatever is trapped inside. It's been compared to trying to move through solid concrete while inside - a Captain proficient in the highest level Shunpo would be able to leave the sphere, though it would be incredibly taxing. The sphere only lasts for five seconds, and Keotsu alone is immune to its affects, as it is formed of his own Spiritual Pressure.

Description: An interesting technique, this technique allows Keotsu to leave a "streak" through the area in which me moves, like the tail of a comet does in the sky. The only catch to this is, that the "streak" has "mass"; that's to say, it's occupied space, and cannot be moved into. This is most effective in trap setting, as if Keotsu swings his blade, and if the opponent where to cross the space where the blade was swung while the tail is present, it would be the same as taking the hit from the blade. The tail starts from Keotsu's middle, meaning that he is not in danger of leaving a tail in front of him as he fights, though it can be used for multiple angle attacking if used right. However, if Keotsu was to double back and cross the tail, he would be in danger of the tail attacking him as well, as the "space" does not discriminate against it's creator, much how a sword can still cut it's owner.
*The tail can only stretch up to short-range from Keotsu.

Bankai Description: Released by saying "Can you see the light? Hannagareboshishawā! (Grand Meteor Shower)", my Bankai abilities activate. All of my Shikai attacks increase in strength, some having minor changes in the way they work. When I release my Bankai, I become dressed in a black cloak, and my sword and shield turn into crests that are inscribed on my gloves, allowing me to summon them at will. The shield takes on the properties of a black Radiant Blade, and the Sword the properties of a White Radiant blade, but only at it's tip. The insignias are silver in color, and gleam on top of my gloves.

Bankai Ability: All of my Shikai abilities increase in power and effectiveness, as well as my cloak acting as a sort of light armor, being composed of all spiritual pressure. It also makes Keotsu seem to flicker in the eyes of others, making it seem like he's warping when he moves from place to place, as he fades in and out of view - this ability is best reaped upon when paired with Shunpo, as Keotsu is actually solid the entire time.

Other than this, Keotsu's Bankai simply increases his base speed, attack, magical ability, and defense.

-I have a feeling I did this WAY wrong, and it's probably overpowered...I'm willing to edit as you suggest.-

This is Katen Kyōkotsu's Final game which is based on the games of "Dress up" and "hide and seek tag" allowing Shunsui to physically change his appearance to that of a ninja and is given an extra katana . While in this form he is given new abilities which help him to win this game.

Zanpaktou Bankai Name: Oni Kao no Mai Katen Kyōkotsu | Faceless Demon, Flower Heaven, Crazy Bone

bankai Ability:
Shunsui holds Katen Kyōkotsu crisscross in front of his face (obscuring his face from view) and says "bankai", then he is surrounded in a whirlwind of Sakura petals (obscuring him from view) it will disperse when he wants to revealing his new form :

Ninoni | Shinobi Demon
This form is used mainly for speed and stealth tactics, in this form shunsui's immense reiatsu is condensed into his feet increasing his speed to that of Yoruichi's Shunpo. Also reiatsu is continuously channeled into his blades increasing their cutting power (able to easily penetrate hierro) and can make afterimages (max of three afterimages of himself) of his swords and himself to confuse the enemy.

He can use these to increase the powers of his weapons or for defensive purposes. He can also send flaming pillars which form by the user and can be directed at the opponent. These flames can jump to other objects or opponents when touched and will severely burn the opponent.
-Usable in Bankai (Huntāoni Form)
-The rank of the technique is as followed:
Low: When used on weapon only
Medium: When used on Body and weapons
High: Shields and Flaming pillars.

This mist can cover to up to long range but this obviously uses more reiatsu. This mist is being filled with the users reiatsu is dark red and is hard for the opponent to see in.

-Usable in Bankai
-Lasts three turns as is constantly produced until the three turns are up.

Oni Bunshin Bakuha no Jutsu | Demon Clone Explosion Technique

Description: After using "Oni Bunshin no Jutsu | Demon Clone Technique" the clones can be detonated by using the condensed reiatsu the clone is made of to form a rather large explosion. Not only is it an incendiary explosion but a huge amount of dark red smoke laced with reiatsu will fill short to mid range which nullifies reiatsu sensing within the smoke. The clones themselves and the user both can remote detonate the clones by doing a special handseal (see below), but the clones need to have at least 6 sp points to detonate.
-Usable in Bankai
-Smoke lasts three turns and then will disperse.

Zanpakuto Name: Shiroshikon(White Fang)

Appearance: Shiroshikon is a dual Zanpakuto. One is a real light(almost white) blue, and the other is pure white. The hilts of both of them are teal, and have a normal shaped grip. Both are shaped like normal Katanas and, and both has a sheath the color of the opposite sword.

Shikai Description
Description: The release for its Shikai is "Rain down twins of white, come upon my enemies and show them your light." In its Shikai state Shiroshikon releases pure Reishi and envelopes the user in a layer of white light. The swords their selves grow two blades at their sides that bend at a 90 degree angle, pointing towards the opponent.

Shikai Ability:
When Shiroshikon is released it creates a layer of Reishi around the user, this layer helps shield the user and protect them from enemy attacks. The swords themselves are able to shoot out white blasts, or waves at the enemy. The blast that is released from his left sword is actually White Fire, and the one from the right is Ice. The Ice that is released is harder to melt than normal ice, being able to still be in solid form at the temperature that water boils(100 degrees Celsius), or willed by the user. The fire that is also released is also harder to get rid of, only large amounts of high pressurized water can extinguish it, unless willed by the user. The veil of Spiritual Pressure that is around the user gives them a wolf-like appearance and makes their hands and feet form claws made of Spiritual Pressure. The claws can slice like normal ones can, but will cut deeper and the length of the claws can be changed by will.

Bankai Description
Description: Shiroshikonurufu(roughly; Wolf White Fang) is the name of Shiroshikon's Bankai form. When it is activated the dual swords form into two different swords. The left sword's blade is made of compressed White Fire, and the right one is made of Pure Ice. This form also gives the user more traits of a wolf. The layer of SP around giving them fangs made of SP and sharp claws that can also change their length. The layer is now more like a suit of armor and can even protect against higher levels of attacks. The user can also drop one or each of his swords on the ground and make the swords turn into wolves. The wolves are the true form of the Shiroshikon's spirit, but split into two different beings.

Bankai Ability:
Their first ability doesn't change much besides that the Ice cannot be melted besides with fire as hot as that of the Captain Commanders Zanpakuto, and the Fire can only be extinguished by a large volume of high pressured water, and that it is a lot more powerful. When clashing with other swords the user can freeze the opponent’s swords if they wish, the chill of the ice is so cold that they would have no choice but to release it. They could also send a wave of fire through a sword, the fire being so hot that they must release their sword.(Zanpakuto with high SP can block the flow of SP into their swords, but only if they are higher than Lieutenant). In this form the layer of SP that once surrounded the user is still there, but is much much stronger, making their skin much stronger than that of an Espada's Hierro. The layer is also enhanced in shape as it becomes bigger and gives the user more traits of a wolf. The wolves that can be released have the same abilities as the original swords but can better control them and can attack from different angles. The wolves move at high speeds and will increase speed if they are guided by the user’s hands. Whenever needed the user can release the wolves and they will form into Fire/Ice and race back towards the user in their sword form.
